The Sachsenring has been a popular venue for the MotoGP and Motorcycles since its original inception as a street circuit in 1927. Racing in the area made its way to the purpose made 2.3-mile circuit after the re-unification of Germany in the 1990's, as the road-course had safety issues not dissimilar to the Isle of Man TT.
The circuit is on the edge of the rural town called Hohenstein-Ernstthal in Saxony. The circuit has certainly been popular in later years, especially for Marc Marquez fans, as he has won every race here since in his professional career!
If you are considering attending for the first time, the Sachsenring has something for everyone, and we have suggested some you should consider.
T1 - The Main Grandstand
Looking for a view over the day's proceedings? From here you can sit over the start finish straight, with the drama of the pits and the start line in front of you. Race day has now sold out, however there is still availability for Friday and Saturday, including practice and qualifying sessions. This is great for seeing the bikes come out of the pits and is well served by giant TV screens, at a circuit renowned for close racing, lap times and finishes. Prices start from £58.
T2 Grandstand - A Spot of Overtaking
Looking for overtaking opportunities and on track action? Turn 1 is a long hairpin after a very long straight, giving bikes the chance to come alongside and overtake each other. In 2009, this was a key point in the exciting battle between Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Tickets are available for all three days, starting from £58.
T3/1, T4, T8, and T9 - Fanstands
More interested in supporting your favourite rider or team? Fanstands have been set up for Valentino Rossi (T3/1 and T4), Yamaha (T8), and KTM (T9). Additionally, Yamaha and KTM look onto Turn 7, a downhill corner peeling out onto a long straight - and a rider favourite! Prices start from £58 and are available on all days.
T3 and T4 - A Dynamic View
Want to see more in the ways of the bikes as they go through three different curves? T3 and T4 look on to turns 2, 3, and 4, and the riders sweep through these with knees to the floor, allowing you to see the full range of movement of the bikes. Prices also start from £58, with all three days available.
General Admission
There are limited viewing opportunities around the circuit, however those that exist are in good areas. The end of the back straight can be good for overtaking, and you can view the final two corners also. Prices start at only £28.
That something special - VIP Tent and MotoGP VIP Village
For those looking for more from their weekend, the VIP Tent is worthy of consideration. With a superb view over the circuit being only the start of proceedings; breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks are all included, as are beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's even a deck party until 22:00 on the Saturday. Prices start from £580.
Alternatively, the best seat in the house is without doubt the MotoGP VIP Village. As well as prime viewing locations, guests can enjoy an exclusive entertainment programme and an outstanding catering service to accompany each day's action on track, providing guests with a memorable GP experience in a relaxed, stylish and exclusive atmosphere. As well as including catering throughout the day, this also includes a pit lane walk, and a paddock tour where you could bump into your favourite MotoGP stars! Prices start from £780, and are available for race day or the whole race weekend.
The German MotoGP is round nine of the 2019 season, and the last race before the four-week summer break. The race takes place from 05th-07th July. Tickets are available as single, 2-day or 3-day passes. This is an iconic race, is a great experience, and certainly a race that needs to be on any fans bucket list! What are you waiting for?
