DESTINATION & TOURISM

Key Facts, International Travel, and Things to Do

    Background

Located in North East of Thailand, approximately 400km from Bangkok, The name Buriram literally translates to "City of Happiness". Rich in modern and ancient history, the countryside around the region is peppered with dozens of ancient ruins, the crowning glory of which is Phanom Rung, a beautifully restored complex climbing to the summit of an extinct volcano.

As Buriram expands, more businesses, both local and foreign owned, are making their way into the fabric of local life. The bustling markets and bars amongst the welcoming cafes and hotels make Buriram an amazing destination to compliment your visit to the MotoGP.

Buriram is also home to Buriram United F.C. who are the current Thai Premier League Champions. Their stadium, the wonderfully nicknamed Thunder Castle, roars to life on match days and would be well worth a visit as it is just 2km from the circuit.

    International Travel

Located approximately 30km East of the capital, a journey from Bangkok should take no more than one hour, though a new rail line linking the airport and town should save a great amount of time during Bangkok’s chaotic rush hours.

From Bangkok there are 5 internal flights per day on to Buriram, with a flight time of approximately 1hour.
