Atmospheric weekend!

This was my first visit to Misano and considering the cost of the weekend ticket, I was bitterly disappointed that we were not allowed free roaming on the Saturday. We were limited to our allocated stand only and the area outside. Sadly the cost of food and drinks were similar to Silverstone....eg astronomical! However the weather was fantastic and overall it was a rewarding experience.

What A Weekend!

We stayed in Rimini for 3 days before the weekend, and 3 days after, so got in a trip to The Marco Simoncelli exhibition and memorial in Coriano (very sad, but well worth the trip), and 2 visits to Rossi's hometown of Tavullia for some souvenir shopping, and an excellent pizza at daRossi Pizzeria, as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the track for the practice sessions and races. The track has no official parking, but we found a massive field right behind the Brutapela stands (VR46 fanclub stands) which was free to park on. Lots of locals hire out spaces on the way up to the track from a few Euros, up to 20 Euros as you get nearer. There were no restrictions on food and drink being taken into the track, although prices at the track outlets wasn't too bad (certainly cheaper than the rip-off merchants at Silverstone!). On the Friday you can go anywhere you like (but not into the pits, obviously), and sit in any seat, but on Saturday and Sunday you have to sit in your own seats. We had Row N in section C of Brutapela 1 stand. This is the very top row, which was fantastic as you can stand on the concrete steps that you sit on (and jump up and down when Rossi goes past, like we did), and no one is behind to moan at you. You also get a great view from turn 1, the pit lane exit, and turns 2,3,4,5 and 6! Take a towel or cushion to sit on, as the concrete is very hard! On race day, we left at 8.10 from Rimini, expecting a bit of a queue, but it was as bad as Valencia and more. We got within walking distance of the track by 10.55, so dumped the car and walked the last kilometre. we missed the start of the Moto3 race, but got into our seats by lap 6, so weren't too bothered, but it will be a 7.00 start for us next time! If you watched the race, you'll know what happened to Lorenzo in the MotoGP race, and it was all shown in clear detail on the giant TV screen right in front of our stand. The atmosphere at Misano is just fantastic, and everyone is out for a great time. Book seats above row F, as there is a protective fence that gets in your viewpoint below this. Getting out of the track wasn't too bad, and we were back in Rimini within 90 minutes. Try to visit Tavullia if you're a Rossi fan, and head out of town for a kilometre to see his Vr46 Ranch Track, which is easily spotted from the main road, and try the very reasonably priced food at daRossi Pizzeria.
