Just got back from the MotoGP at Le Mans. We drove over via Eurotunnel which made for a long journey through France on the autoroutes, however the journey was smooth. Got to the circuit easily, then had a bit of a run around getting in, we wanted to get into the Rouge campsite, but the roadsigns directed you to an entrance that wasn't open :/ ended up being pointed in the right direction by one of the site workers. Arriving at the campsite at 6ish on Thursday night meant we had the pick of where to pitch, unfortunately the ground was solid with gravel and sand, which made pitching a tent very difficult, we somehow managed to get 6 tent pegs in, but the rest had to be weighed down by our kit.
Looking at the campsites for the grandstands, these were much better, all grass-y, so think we'll splash out on grandstand tickets if we go another time. Remember your suncream, it was very very hot, and there's very little shade = lots of red bodies. Also bring as much food/drink as you can, as the prices on site are extortionate - £3 for a can of coke / £8 for a baguette with chips.
The race was brilliant though, Lorenzo did a star turn.
Leaving the site took an age took us 2 hours to get out of the campsite and onto the autoroute out of Le Mans. All in all a brilliant weekend, glad we took the monday off work to recover though :)
